Brian & Christine: A Day For Wednesday Child

Adoption is close to my heart!

I am grateful for birthparents who brought our children to our family. There are also children waiting for a family through Foster Care.

One day Brian said to me, "I like international adoption but I want to help the children in our own country." With that...we will hopefully foster to adopt in a few years. Thus why I feel Baby J is my last baby but perhaps not my last child.

According to the Utah Adoption Exchange

The Adoption Exchange also debunking myths!

MYTH Children in Foster Care Have A Lot of Problems

BUSTED: Children waiting for an adoptive home have been removed due to issues of their biological parents.? Children are resilient and sometimes have a hard time learning to trust anyone after what they have been through but like all of us they want and need the love that a family can provide.

MYTH: I foster a child I?ve heard that it takes years before I can adopt them

BUSTED: The average time a child spends in foster care before adopted is 18.4 months. The courts try to move as quickly as possible but they also need to allow time for the biological family to make the necessary changes to be reunified with their children. It is a hard balance between the rights of the biological parents and the need for permanency for the children. Unless a case goes on appeal finalization of an adoption can occur as soon as parental rights are terminated as long as the child has been in the adoptive home for at least 6 months.

I love adoption and I love children. Thus why I support our local news station's efforts. KSL 5 is hosting to benefit children in foster care through the Adoption Exchange Program.
